When faith and therapy are treated like rivals, people lose access to the kind of healing that actually helps them. Dr. Catrice Glenn and William Hemphill make the case for a better way—one that holds theology, trauma, and clinical care in the same room.

Together, they unpack why so many faith communities are still wary of mental health support, why pastors are not equipped to carry every counseling burden, and how dually trained clinicians can help people heal the whole person instead of splitting spiritual pain from emotional pain. If you have ever wondered whether therapy means you lack faith, this conversation meets that fear head-on.

Dr. Glenn and William Hemphill share:

  • Why therapy can be a tool God uses, not a replacement for faith
  • How meaning-making changes the way people process grief, suffering, and trauma
  • The link between sin, wounds, and maladaptive coping
  • How imposter syndrome gets rewired through spiritual reframing
  • Why church hurt often requires both trauma work and witness
  • What it takes to rebuild faith after cult-like or controlling church systems

William also explains how his own path as an ordained pastor, chaplain, and licensed professional counselor shaped his integrated approach, from couples conflict and spiritual trauma to adoptee care, EMDR, and emotionally focused therapy. Dr. Glenn adds her perspective from grief work, leadership care, and ministry training, making this a grounded, practical conversation for anyone working at the intersection of soul care and mental health.

This episode matters because too many people are told to pray harder when they need support, or to silence their spiritual questions when life gets painful. If you work in ministry or therapy, or you’re trying to rebuild trust after church hurt, this conversation helps you see a way forward without choosing between God and healing.

Perfect for pastors, therapists, ministry leaders, and faith-driven listeners who want a more compassionate, integrated path to restoration.
